Book Review: The Rise of Sivagami (Bahubali Book 1) by Anand Neelakantan

The Rise of Sivagami by Anand Neelakantan is the first book of the Bahubali: Before the Begining trilogy which is the prequel to the blockbuster movie Bahubali. In this book, The Rise of Sivagami, Anand Neelakantan tells the epic story of the revenge of Sivagami from the King of the state of Mahismathi. The Rise of Sivagami by Anand Neelakantan is a gripping tale of power, betrayal, and revenge.

The Story: The Rise of Sivagami by Anand Neelakantan

Anand Neelakantan begins the story of The Rise of Sivagami with the history and prosperity of Mahismathi, a powerful empire at foothills of mountain Gauriparvat.  Sivagami, an orphan girl who lost her father in a wicked conspiracy involving the King, is the protagonist of the first book of the Bahubali trilogy.
The Rise of Sivagami by Anand Neelakantan traces the audacious journey of Sivagami as she is determined to avenge her father’s death from her enemy, none other than the King. On her quest to clean the name of his father and demolish the so-called prosperous but equally dark kingdom of Mahismathi, Sivagami unveils the darkest of the secrets of King and his kingdom. With his gripping storytelling, Anand Neelakantan does the perfect justice to the epic.
The Rise of Sivagami is a tale told with an impressive control over the narrative. The pace of the story neither slackens nor offered up at the altar of world-building details. The author of The Rise of Sivagami, Anand Neelakantan, has done perfect justice to the faith placed in him by the director of Baahubali, S.S. Rajamouli. Also, Rajamouli’s foreword is enough to make you want to devour this chubby read with impatience.

The Girl of My Dreams – Review

Review: The Girl of My Dreams, by  Durjoy Datta Review of The Girl fo my dreams by Durjoy Datta Author:  Durjoy Datta Price:  Rs. 199 /- Pages:  288 Genre:  Thriller I have first read “If it’s not Forever, then It’s not Love” by Durjoy Datta and loved his books from then on. However, The Girl of my Dreams is a genre change for Durjoy Datta. The book is a Thriller with love and obsession as the central theme. The book is about the Protagonist, Daman who is facing challenges in life after surviving a deadly car accident. His girlfriend, Shreyasi, was with him in the car and he feels that because he was driving that day and he is guilty of her death. Daman meets his new girlfriend, Avni who doesn’t like Daman mentioning Shreyasi, his virtual girlfriend in his writings. Even after Avni’s repeated appeal to him to name her instead of Shreyasi, he keeps using his virtual girlfriend’s name. The plot becomes chaotic when Shreyasi comes back to life, the plot becomes

Zadie smith: Book Review: Swing time

Author:  Zadie Smith Pages:  464 Price:  INR 599 Genre:  Fiction, Contemporary, Literary Fiction Swing Time  is Zadie Smith’s fifth novel and for my money her finest. A “best friend bildungsroman” in the Elena Ferrante mould, the novel tells the story of two girls growing up on the wrong side of town. Residents of neighboring housing estates in London, the pair meet at a community dance class, one (the unnamed narrator) clever and self-doubting, the other (Tracey) confident and self-destructive. As with the Italian bestseller, the talented friend is the tortured one – prematurely sexual, rebellious at school, ungoverned at home – while the less gifted is an able student, determined to make it out of the neighborhood. It gives little away to say that she does, becoming an assistant to a pop star called Aimee. It is by Aimee’s side that she travels the world, jetting from winters to summers. For its plot alone,  Swing Time  makes for truly marvelous reading. The narrato

Adultery by Paul Coelho

Review: Adultery by  Paulo Coelho Adultery by Paulo Coelho Review Author: Paulo Coelho Price: Rs. 947 Pages: 272 Genre: Thriller, Romance I had the excitement when I picked up Paulo Coelho’s book Adultery as the title had a lot to say. Paulo Coelho’s inspirational content is the reason for the popularity of his books. In this book, he has a very different style of writing.  The story is about Linda, who is a journalist in her thirties, with a husband and two children. She is quite content with her married life. She loves her family but discovers that there is something missing in her life and killing her inside. She craves for some excitement. As a result, she falls in love with her school boyfriend which results in an explicit relationship. Out of her depression, she even meets a drug dealer and thinks he is a person who she could talk to. Linda feels ashamed for whatever she had done and understands the true meaning of life and love.
